Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'.....Into the future

Where has the time gone? Hard to believe that it's the middle of 2014 and almost 4 years has passed since I last posted! Well that's not quite a true statement, I created this blog http://withtheeyesofachild.blogspot.com/ to capture the great fun that children have learning about the world around them - and yes it's not updated so that should give you some indication of how busy it's been!

Z is finishing 1st grade and A is finishing pre-school. And it's been fun, hectic, chaotic, and awesome all rolled into one.

Z is a sweet and book-ish girl and loves reading. I frequently see her light on in the morning and walk in to see her reading in bed. Her table next to her bed is a bookcase full of books piled like the leaning tower of Pisa!  At 7, she's still high intensity and when she's happy it's great but when she's not......let's just say everyone knows it.

A is a sweet and generous boy who is a giver. He is learning to read and his reading skills have really accelerated this month! He is very observant and empathetic with awesome recall. The boy is a boy - nakedness, muddiness, loudness in every way!

They are best friends.

It seems odd to be so close yet so far away from people since we've moved. We are not in a neighborhood anymore and even though we have neighbors we are sort of isolated here in the suburbs of NoVA.

Their career interests change daily from gardener, artist, writer, farmer, to zoo keeper. It's hard to keep up! No organized sports or teams or camps or clubs for the time being. Kids spend way too much time being busy by someone or something else than by finding it out on their own.

Time flew over the Cuckoo's Nest

How is it EVEN remotely possible that apparently over 3  years have passed since I last updated my blog about the comings and goings of our family?! Geeeeeeeez

How do I get started!

2010:
We took a great trip to Canada in the summer of 2010. We went to Bob's Lake in Ontario with my friend Teri and her family. We spent a week there and it was nice. The kids handled the ride pretty well. Steven and I tried to waterski - more like a colon cleansing.

Zofia started preschool last fall and loved it. The school is a co-op and our class was great.

Aaron celebrated his 2nd birthday last year to the cake theme of Thomas. He loved it. I slaved over it.

Christmas last year was huge! They were super excited to see the presents under the tree.

2011 :
Then January came....

I went back to work. I came off my extended Leave of Absence. I was looking forward to going back to work again. Almost 3 years at home was enough for me to want to carry a laptop again.

So, I came back to IBM and started back on the project I left when I went on leave - ACT. But this time, I was the Testing Lead. Then the Marketing Lead. Then Deputy PM.

2012:
Same work as before just more of it. Zofia started Kindergarten this year and was accepted into one of the two magnet elementary schools in Fairfax County, which meant that she was commuting to school with me since her school is in Reston. Full day Kindergarten + 40-50 minute commute = 1 unhappy child.

But, we moved to Oakton in December with Frank and everyone is soooooooooo much happier!

2013:
2013 rocks!
